Join Dr Damian Teo, and specialist Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr Roland Barrowman for this ONLINE webinar followed by QnA, on managing closed locks
Dental practitioners, have you ever encountered these situations in clinic?
- Have difficulty doing a restoration in a patient’s mouth because they can’t open wide
- Finished a root canal, extraction, or any dental procedure, and the patient’s jaw locks shut
- Taking breaks every 2 minutes so your patient can relax and rest their jaw
- A patient has booked with you because they can not open their mouth and feel their jaw is locked
All dentists, oral heath therapists and hygienists of any skill level would have experienced a patient with some degree of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) at least once in their career. One of the most difficult TMD presentations one can come across is the Closed Lock, or, the inability to open your mouth.
Learning to identify and manage closed locks is an important everyday skill for anyone in the dental field. The knowledge and skills you will learn in this webinar can be used by all skill levels of dentists, oral health therapists and hygienists.
Not interested in treating closed locks? That’s OK! Not all practitioners are trained in implants, however we all at least know the principles, and have the background knowledge in implants to have a discussion with our patients.
Even if the treatment of closed locks and TMD isn’t for you, being familiar with closed lock management will prepare you for if (or when) an emergency closed lock does occur in your clinic.
